Dyna-Track, wheel tracking apparatus
Dyna-Track, wheel tracking apparatus
Introduction
The susceptibility of bituminous materials to deform is assessed by the rut formed by repeated passes of a loaded wheel at constant temperature. The test can be performed in the laboratory by the Dyna-Track, wheel tracking apparatus, conforming to the EN 12697-22 standards
General description
The Dyna-Track apparatus consists essentially of a loaded wheel, which bears on a sample held on a moving table. The table reciprocates with simple harmonic motion. The wheel is fitted with a solid rubber tyre of outside diameter of 200 mm. The sample table is fitted with a locking clamp for 200 mm dia. core sample and for rectangular slabs 300x400 mm using the sample confinement frames (see accessories). The machine is also provided by an auxiliary electric motor to lower and to lift the wheel assembly on and off the specimen at the beginning and at the end of the test. Furthermore two temperature sensors are provided: one to be placed inside the specimen and the other in the controlled temperature cabinet, which is part of the apparatus. The test is automatically controlled by a Data acquisition and processing system with large graphic display to monitor in real time number of cycles, rut depth and temperature.
